Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/10/2015

Number: 1

I found 7 caterpillars on 6 different common milkweed plants. They're all the same size, about 1/2 inch long. I imagine one female monarch flew through the field, given the same size of the caterpillars and the proximity of the plants to each other. (Many other nearby common milkweed plants had no caterpillars.)

Editor's Note: The presence of larvae means an adult monarch has arrived in this area. Therefore, we are adding this report to the migration map.
