Monarch Larva (FIRST sighted)
Sightings report image

Date: 05/04/2015

Number: 1

We have a flower garden and a small vegetable garden as well as a very large yard full of flowers and foliage. Mothers Day 2014 I received a Milkweed plant from my daughter. When it had seeds I planted them around our garden in hopes they would sprout. We've always had a large amount of butterflies, insects and wildlife but one exciting day early this year we found a Monarch chrysalis- what an amazing experience to watch hatch. From then on we have been on the lookout of more... May 4th I was gardening as usual but what I saw stopped me in my tracks thru out a small area there were Monarch caterpillars, all different sizes from tiny tiny to large. Since then there have been at least 8 I have found. One chrysalis we brought in hatched just yesterday, of course we let it go when it was ready to take flight. In hope it will stick around, we have a lots for it to enjoy. Fingers crossed they all will stay close or come back.
