Please see the attached photo of the Monarch I saw along the Old Kiln Trail in Boulder, Colorado, on April 13, 2015. I'm very familiar with the butterflies of the area, including all other species that could possible be confused with a Monarch. I followed the Monarch trying to get photos with my phone. Milkweeds weren't up when I saw it, but they are plentiful in the region later in the spring. This individual was flying low over the floodplain next to Four-Mile Creek, investigating various young forbs on its way.
