The monarch looked bright and I was mowing so I could not get the sex nor could I tell exactly what it was necturing on. Mostly white clover in bloom on the ground where I saw it. Temperatures had been in the 50's and rainy for the past several days. the day before and day of the observation were partly cloudy 70 degrees and 5-15 mph S-SE wind.
We have lots of common milkweed between 6 and 24 inches heigh. Also, swamp milkweed is about 12 inch heigh. We have looked for eggs somewhat randomly; not a complete survey but we have not found any eggs yet. We have seen Red Admirals, swallowtails and sulphers too.
