Monarch Larva (FIRST sighted)

Date: 04/20/2015

Number: 1

Home grown milkweed. Never had a monarch lay her eggs even though in a direct north path to the winter nesting site of Monterey Bay. Upon notice late April had 9 pupa on fence. First three hatched had hard time due to wind, rain, spider web. Took rest inside. 5 hatched beautifully no stress.(1 male 4 female). 1 was born with lower wings hooked up to the side of her body, could not fly. Kept her as a pet for 10 days(dont anybody ever say a queen monarch doesn't have a brain. I got more reaction and enjoyment from this queen than most people). Died from her eggs getting bound in her system. Under limited autopsy she had 184 eggs inside her.
