First Monarch of the season in a large milkweed colony on our farm. I saw a Viceroy the day before. However, this day belonged to Great Spangled Fritillary butterflies ... we saw over 100 on a 2 mile walk. I could not get a picture of the Monarch but it was a female and its wings were brightly colored.
