Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/26/2015

Number: 1

6 adult monarchs sighted at Draper Lake after 4 pm, visiting Spider Milkweed. We found no eggs or larva yet. None were tagged. The rain in central Oklahoma has been very heavy, so low lying areas are flooded, and many plants are drowned. This was on a hill. The milk weed is thick this year, additional nectar sources are coreopsis, sunflowers are starting to bloom, Sumac, fleabane, wine cups, Indian Paintbrush and purple cone flowers. This is just North of the marina on the west side of the lake right off of 74th street.
