Well today was amazing, get home from work and look out at my row of dwarf lilacs and there were 9-10 eastern swallowtail, 2 silver-spotted skippers, 2 painted lady, at least one hummingbird clearwing moth and a Titan or Nessus moth, and 4 monarchs. At first it was just 2 male monarchs just fighting for 10 minutes straight but then and female flew in and the more dominant male quickly mated with her and they flew off to the left. About four to five minutes later another female came in for a drink and the male bothered her but she would have nothing to do with him. The females were not in the egg laying mode today as I checked about 50 milkweed around my lilacs and no eggs. On my egg note I have gathered 30 eggs and am excited to report as of late night June 1st I'm a proud parent of 17 babies. I'm ahead in sightings and eggs from last year and that was a good year.
