A beautiful adult monarch butterfly fluttered through my yard at approximately 1:00pm today! The colours were bright and wings were intact however I was unable to determine the sex. I will examine my milkweed soon :)

I have been watching Monarch butterflies for over 10 years and can confidently confirm I saw a Monarch.
I have seen a couple of Viceroys in Muskoka but the stripe across their hind wings as well as the smaller size of the Viceroy makes them appear to me as being distinctly different from a Monarch butterfly.
