Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 06/04/2015

Number: 1

at the Guadalupe River State Park (Spring, TX) butterfly survey, 3 monarchs were seen nectaring on Texas Thistle (Cirsium texanum). Two were fresh and one was slightly worn. Gen2?

Last Monday, June 1st, my grandson texted me (with a photo) that he saw a monarch at the San Diego Zoo. He and his dad are on their annual summer baseball trip.

June 2nd I saw a fresh monarch flying around my property. Gen2?
I had 4 - 5th instars in my milkweed patch on May 15th.

With all the rain and cloudy weather, the A. asperula pods are small and maturing slowly. I harvested 2 pods that had started to split. One pod had small mature seeds but the other had white, immature seeds.
There may not be a lot of seed from all the milkweed that we had. I hope not.
