Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 06/06/2015

Number: 1

Planted 1/8th acre showy milkweed (speciosa) on my farm two years ago. The first Monarch showed up on D-Day, June 6th! A second Monarch showed up June 7th. I guess it's true--"If you build it, they will come!". The two Monarchs are very flighty, hard to get near, not observed to be laying eggs yet. Can't get close enough to photo or determine if it's two males by the scent glands. The a.s. just came into bloom June 7th; hope there are more M's to come than the two that have shown up so far. Will try and send photos if they settle down to sip a.s. nectar.
