Saw a Monarch caterpillar on our green roof research site. We have several milkweed plants and this Caterpillar was fat and hanging out on a vegetable crops section of the roof garden. A milkweed plant had established from the seed of another plant at a different location on the roof. We left the Milkweed plant in case a Monarch would visit the roof. This is the first sighting of a Monarch on the roof. We have many plants on living walls on the roof to attract pollinators. Here is our research web site with student blogs of work on the green roofs and living walls. https://tamugreenroof.wordpress.com/
