Found my first caterpillars in the backyard on Wednesday. Just returned from vacation and checked the milkweed. Seven second instar. Next day was visited by a female Monarch (first I had seen in the garden) checking out the milkweed. She didn't leave eggs that day, but returned the next 2 days, leaving at least 34 eggs that I brought in to raise. They are later this year, but, they are here, finally.
