Monarch Larva (FIRST sighted)

Date: 06/15/2015

Number: 1

Yesterday I found my first Larva of the season. I found 9 by searching all the milkweed plants in my prairie restoration area. This is later than last year and about 1/3 of the number that I found at the same point in June last year. This roughly coincides with the blooming of the catalpa trees in the same general area. I believe the unusually wet summer has had an impact on numbers. I have brought these inside to raise.
