Habitat

Several years ago my yard was certified by the Audubon Society as a backyard habitat, and there are many in my neighborhood; I will encourage my neighbors to report here.
This year a monarch butterfly honored us by laying eggs on the milkweed in my garden! There are about 2 dozen caterpillars in my house, munching away, almost ready to pupate. Monarchs are rare in Portland normally, but maybe if there is more milkweed they will become more common.
