Monarch Egg (FIRST sighted)

Date: 06/17/2015

Number: 1

A small, stunted milkweed plant was growing next to my driveway, directly against the concrete edge. The wind had been blowing all afternoon when I suddenly realized that the milkweed was bent and obviously wouldn't live. I pulled it, with the intention of freezing the leaves for later in the season. Upon further review I discovered three monarch eggs on it. Three eggs on one plant! Later in the evening I found seven more eggs on other milkweed plants in the same area. Very exciting!
