We found a 2nd instar in a pool parking lot on a small patch of milkweed. Lots of leaves were chewed on by several others, but there were no signs of any other larvae nor chrysalis. We took this baby home to raise in our nursery. We didn't want predators to grab this one or for some kid with good intentions, but lack of knowledge to harm it. Became 3rd instar overnight. No evidence of larvae or eggs on my patch of milkweed at home. The weather was cool and rainy during their peek migration north and the maps reflected the adults mainly routed around Nebraska to the east. Perhaps in the fall we will see a whole lot more and we will have more milkweed ready for them on the way back down.
