Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 06/26/2015

Number: 1

Last spring, I released 41 monarchs which was my highest spring total ever. This spring I'm thrilled to report I'm raising 108 caterpillars in all stages except the egg stage. I released one of them yesterday -- a healthy male. This year, I've found swamp milkweed to be a reliable source of larvae. One plant alone yielded 15 caterpillars. I feel compelled to keep raising monarchs when I see so many milkweed patches in public places being poisoned. I certainly support a movement to make Minneapolis a butterfly sanctuary.
