All Other Signs of Spring

Date: 06/26/2015

Number: 1

I have not been very good at reporting this summer. I have observed plenty of fireflies this month. They were late appearing as May was cooler than normal and wet.

We have not seen many hummingbirds in my yard, but many have been observed in my area.

I have been feeding my birds all summer. had plenty of Grackles and Brown headed cow birds gobbling the seed. Have my usual cardinals and Red, my "pet" cardinal who lets me know when the seed supply is low. We are down to one lone grackle feeding in the morning and evening while the other grackles have left.

No proliferation of butterflies like last year which is an area of concern. I made a bee/butterfly feeder with sugar water. Red ants found it and ate the sugar.

Wish I had more to report.
