A migrant male Monarch was tagged (#4130) along the Trinity River in Northern California on May 24 2015. It was found on June 28 by Kendra in Twin Falls Idaho, a straight-line distance of 439 miles ENE. This may be the first ever record of a spring-tagged Monarch migrating from CA to the PNW.
It really is a remarkably lucky recovery..we tagged just 21 that weekend..so the odds were very low that we'd get any recoveries. The recovered individual was #4130..the one that Annabella my daughter was holding in the tagging story was # 4128!
