Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 06/22/2015

Number: 1

Early afternoon sighting, solitary, large, landed on several milkweeds in bloom. No observed egg laying and no subsequent larvae. Not sure of sex but the veins look thicker so I'd say female. Was hoping for eggs as I have a dozen mature curassavica and about another 30 younger fascicularis plants. This is only the 2nd Monarch we have seen in our yard this year. Generally not many butterflys. Lots of bees and hummingbirds in the garden, with various finches, orioles and other birds coming to the feeders.
