Our two-acre parcel is designated monarch habitat - we retain as much open grassland as possible and all the milkweed that emerges. The gardens are planted with heirloom and nectar producing flowers for butterflies and our resident ruby-throated hummingbirds. The coreopsis and herbs are very popular with our busy feral honeybees. In previous years we had many monarchs, last year none. So far in 2015, one that may have been passing through. Hoping for more next year.
