Monarch Larva Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 07/06/2015

Number: 1

final instar larva feeding on top leaves of milkweed growing at the back of the beach.
There are blossoms above it supplying nectar to Banded Hairstreaks, one Striped Hairstreak, American Snouts, Red Admirals, and numerous honey bees, bumble bees, digger wasps, flies.
There are also caterpillar wasps patrolling.
This is protected by Canada's National Parks Act and the good judgement of park patrons.
This is the third final instar larva I've spotted in this small park since July 1 not counting two in urban Leamington.
