I've see monarchs mating in flight, but never trying to make the connection.
Today I found a pair laying in the grass to make the connection. I ran and got my camera. I took this shot just before they connected. If you closely you can see they are 180 degrees part One minute later they took off on their Honeymoon.
Monarchs are very scarey this year in our area.
