We breifly saw a male monarch flitting around. Then we saw a female for a long time. She flew around and began to lay eggs (I couldn't find the eggs later, but she pressed her abdomen against the underside of milkweed leaves.
These were the first sightings of the year. I got a call from my grandma (she owns the house where the monarchs were sighted) telling me to come quick-- there were monarchs! We planted a monarch garden this year, and it seems to be turning up results!
