Monarch (OTHER Observations)
Sightings report image

Date: 07/13/2015

Number: 12

This is a summary of the last week of activity.
On Tuesday, July 7, I saw my first 2nd generation female laying eggs. This was on our back hill. I also saw two more females depositing eggs at Big Lake Farms on Wednesday, July 8. (The Milkweed that had been cut/damaged there about the 1st of July was just sending out new leaves and many new plants were being established in mowed/trampled pathways.)
There has been an increase in Monarch activity since those days, but especially today: saw a mating pair, roaming males, and an egg laying female. So far I have only seen one new 1st instar caterpillar......more to come, if all goes well.
Weather has been wet and generally warm and humid here in Wisconsin. Lots of milkweed, if the predators don't do us in.........
Later.
