This time two Monarchs appeared about the same time. They kept landing on the milkweed, flying up in the crab tree, disappearing for a few minutes, then coming back to the milkweed.
They never did fly over to my zinnias and butterfly bush area, which are about 20-25 feet away. They would always come back to the milkweed, mostly landing right next to the milkweed flowers that are now blooming, and sitting there for 4-5 minutes at a time. I could not see them laying eggs or find any eggs at any time.
All in all they spent about 1 hour in our yard. When shadows from the trees fell over the milkweed near sundown, they flew away.
