Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)
Sightings report image

Date: 06/29/2015

Number: 2

I saw 2 Monarchs out the window. They were swirling about together, so I figured they were mating. When I made it outside with my camera, they were gone. Not too many days later, I saw a single faded and tattered Monarch desperately flitting over the milkweed vine patch I've been growing. I watched for a while and saw her laying eggs. A few days later I went out and collected 17 leaves with eggs on them to bring inside. 14 have hatched and are due to make chrysalides by the weekend. I'm hoping to do better than the 10% that make it in the wild!
