Sightings report image

Date: 07/22/2015

Number: 1

A good day in the milkweed patch. A male monarch eclosed at about noon, hung and stretched intermittently for another couple of hours, then flew high onto an eastern cedar tree leaving the exoskeleton behind. While hanging to dry and gain strength, a female flitted through the patch laying eggs, at one point grazing the male, who only winced slightly.
