Monarch Egg (FIRST sighted)

Date: 07/22/2015

Number: 12

I found eggs on twelve milkweed plants. The plants were very small and the eggs were located at the very top on the smallest leaves. I have not found any on the mature milkweed that grows throughout our field, but these plants have recently sprung up in the mowed path we have around the field. These are the first eggs I have seen this year. I have only seen three adult monarchs here all summer long. I found two more eggs on 7/24, and again these were on the smallest plants.
