Obserevedthe first of 3 larva on 07/08/15. First there was a large one, then a medium one. and then a very small one. The larger one disappeared first, then after growing to a large size the 2nd one also disappeared. We could not find a chrysalis but some of the garden is dense. Then on about 07/15/15 the smallest one climbed onto a clay flower pot and attached himself. I saw that the ants from inside the pot were greatly disturbing the caterpillar so I removed the plant and dirt and brought it inside. On 07/16/15 it formed it's chrysalis and emerged today 07/26/15. I moved it backoutside into a sunny spot in the milkweed garden where it is now drying it's wings. I wish there were 3 instead of just 1. My hopes that some Gen4 Monarchs will grow in my garden are not very high, but I will remain hopeful. We plan on keeping an eye on this one until it flutters away.
