Two monarchs, one was a female. The other I did not get a good look at. They were doing the "dance" they sometimes do. Sorry I don't know the name for it or if they are playing or in competition or doing a mating ritual.
Both were young, as they were bright colored and had no injuries.
I just enrolled today, so I will also say that I have seen one or two almost every day for the past two weeks. I found one cat in the third instar, put him in a cage, the chrysalis hatched two days ago. ..a male. I think the other eggs that would have been from the same batch were killed by wasps, as there were a lot of them on the swamp milkweed as it was in full bloom.
I found 10 eggs last week. I brought them inside but they haven't hatched. It is possible they were not fertilized, as I had not seen any males at all.
