Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 07/09/2015

Number: 2

Observed 2 adults together in the air, near a patch of Common Milkweed. They were my first adult sightings of the year. I continue to see them at the Monument in Gering (as of 7/28/15). I will check on the larvae or caterpillar I saw at Agate Nat. Monument this Thursday. It is really exciting to know that the monarchs have made their stops here in western Nebraska. I will continue to observe them. I have noted a lot of matured milkweed as well as new plants as well at both Scottsbluff and Agate National Monuments. It may well be that the monarchs were here and I missed them until recently as I got out in to the field more in July.
