Monarch Larva (FIRST sighted)

Date: 07/22/2015

Number: 10

I was looking at my garden after being gone for a week. I discovered little tiny worms as I called them on my one Milkweed plant. I sent a picture to my sister, she told me they were Monarch caterpillars. There are more now of different sizes. They have about stripped the plant of its leaves. I am afraid they will run out of Milkweed before they reach their next stage. I enjoy watching them grow and anxious to see them mature but as I stated, there in not much more food for them. I have checked with local nurseries about more Milkweed but they are out. Next year, I will plant more Milkweed. I just didn't expect that I would have them this year.
