Checking large patches of tropical milkweed in my yard, I find 7 larvae in various stages, some about 1/4 inch and a couple up to an inch. Disappointing that the large number found 4 days ago have largely disappeared, though not sufficient time for them to have matured to the pupa stage. I assume they have died either to predator or disease. I have found two half inch size larva dead, turned black. It seems that this batch of larva have high rate of disease. The previous batch in early July all seemed to mature and leave to form pupa.
