I live near Toledo OH. I drove to visit my mother in Canton, MI, about 1 hour drive away. I saw one monarch nectaring on the roadside near Ypsi. As I pulled into my mom's subdivision, a monarch swooped just over the top of my van, headed south. I can't be certain, but it seemed like directional flight. Hmmmm. Premigrant pissibly?
Driving home, I saw a second monarch in the median on US-23, flying at car level and headed south. No nectar plants in the median since M-DOT has torn up the median to install crash barriers. Nectar flowers were across road though. Not sure what to think, posting in case others may have seen something similar.
