Empire Michigan is a small village in northern Michigan surrounded by the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore (a National Park). There is still a great deal of milkweed growing wild in this part of the state. I was walking on the edge of town and saw two adult Monarchs on a flowering milkweed plant. Later in the day, a Monarch flew through my front yard.
