Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 08/05/2015

Number: 1

I have been looking for one since June and I asked my friends, neighbors and local nursery and no one had seen any. I am so relieved to see my first one. I and my neighbor both planted milkweed flowers in our yards. So did our neighborhood Park, Lake Artemisia. They planted a whole field of them. I have also seen patches planted in grassy traffic islands in my area. Looks like everyone is in on the act. Thank goodness. I will be visiting a Monarch wintering site in Mexico in 2017. I am so excited. I am concerned with clusters of orange insects 1 cm or less in length infesting the milkweed plants at our park. They look like they could eat a Monarch egg or a small caterpillar. I hope they will not be a problem.
