Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 07/15/2015

Number: 29

I've been very busy and have not been able to report my sightings. Currently, it is not uncommon to see at least a couple of monarchs in my yard.

On June 15th, however, I spotted two monarchs at different times, the later time near 6:30 in my yard.
On June 25th, spotted one at about 3:00 pm at the Olathe Superfund Garden site.
On June 26th, saw three at different times: 12, 3, and 6:00 or thereabouts.

A week ago, I found two end of stage caterpillars at the EPA garden in Lenexa, Kansas. One will probably change into a pupae within the next 24 hours at its safe confine in my house. The other is still munching milkweed.

Also, about a week ago, I did not find any eggs or caterpillars in my yard. However, by Monday morning, I had harvested about 16 eggs and one in the second phase of development. Found 4 more throughout the week.
