Sightings report image

Weekly update for northwest Wisconsin:
Conditions continue promising for good 4th generation hatch in a few weeks; however, caterpillar sightings are very poor, and so I am very worried about predation and/or disease and its power to destroy our good summer for the monarchs.
Big Lake area continues to show great promise; spotted three mating pairs last Monday. Goldenrod should begin blooming there soon.
Back hill has fewer monarchs now; my searches for eggs and caterpillars has been less than wonderful, I'm afraid.
Weather continues mostly in the 80s; a rain yesterday got us out of our recent dry spell. More later..............
