I am thrilled with the numbers of Monarchs here in Westerville, Ohio of late. Last week (estimating 8/1/15) our family were at a nearby golf course and there was one Monarch after another - looking for milkweed. We probably saw 7. Then in our flower gardens this year because of the heavy rain in spring, the flowers have been magnificent. We have seen a number of Monarchs on our milkweed plants as well as the lavender butterfly bushes. Quite a lovely sight since we have lived here for 8 years and the numbers have been scarce except three years ago when we nurtured ten to maturity! We keep waiting for a female Monarch to drop some eggs so we can once again bring them to mature Monarchs.
