Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 07/25/2015

Number: 1

Only have seen one lonely Monarch Butterfly this entire summer season. I have planted flowers that attract monarchs. Have several Echinacea / Purple Coneflower plants, Bee Balm, Hummingbird Bush ( Buddelyea) in my garden all in full bloom. Also I scattered Milkweed seeds last Fall along one side of our 2 acre property here and we do have milkweeds this year, maybe about 15 or so plants. There have been very very few butterflies of any kind seen here this summer, and the same goes for bees, ants, houseflies, caterpillars, earthworms, ladybugs, and many other insects. VERY VERY few of any outdoor regular summer insects and bugs are in this area? I find that spooky.
