Monarch Egg Sighted

Date: 08/12/2015

Number: 3

EGG-CITING news! About 9 am I watched a female monarch laying eggs on the common and tropical milkweeds growing in the Children's Learning Garden at the Virginia Living Museum. I didn't have time to figure out exactly how many total eggs she deposited, I was walking past on way to prepare for a morning class. But I saw her stop and bend her abdomen under 3 leaves for sure. These eggs will be the parents of the migrating generation here; we see breeding into mid-September regularly.
