We have three varieties of plants in our backyard that bloom later in the summer and attract Monarch butterflies. In fact there are at least four Monarchs presently feeding on these plants and we have had up to ten at one time in past years.
The plants are three varieties of Silphium: Silphium perfoliatum - Cup Plant, Silphium laciniatum - Compass Plant, Silphium integrifolium - Rosinweed.
These plants are not delicate they can grow up to six feet and expand in circumference.
