Hummingbird, Nectaring from Flowers

Date: 08/16/2015

Number: 3

Monarch Waystation #271 reports up to 3 hummingbirds at a time nectaring on Coral Honeysuckle on my backyard arbor from 7:25 to 7:35 pm as I watched through my patio door blinds. There were many sightings in this time period of single, double, and triple birds darting in and out among the flowers, resting among the branches, preening, and chasing. I really can only say for sure that there were a minimum of 3 birds. I'm usually not watching at this time of day during the week and can't say for sure if these are locals or not. The few clear views I got of the birds showed light throats, so only females or juveniles. At least one bird seemed slightly larger or more robust than the others. What a show! Also, a robust bird was seen nectaring on the Buddleia and Tropcial Milkweed in the front yard at 7:40 pm.
