Today I went looking for Monarch larva to foster

The owners showed me 3 milkweed plants that are right near their house near their butterfly flower bed.

SEVEN caterpillars! 5- 4th instars, 1- 3rd instar and 1- 2nd instar! They are leaving these caterpillars outside on the plants so it will be interesting to see how many pupate/eclose.

The milkweed out in the field is covered with aphids, spiders, wee flies etc! I found an additional 5 larva and brought these home to foster. 3- 1st instar, 1- 2nd instar and 1- 3rd instar.
