Sightings report image

Date: 08/12/2015

Number: 4

My normal explorations take place during my early morning runs, before much insect flight activity takes place. This morning's exception took me to a half mile unmowed rural roadside after 9 a.m. on a sunny day. There I was able to observe one male and 3 females. The male was feeding on swamp milkweed flowers and the females were roaming up and the roadside alternately seemingly looking for milkweed on which to lay eggs or feeding. One even disappeared into the soybean field for a short time, maybe feeding on some soybean nectar.
