Sightings report image

Date: 08/20/2015

Number: 1

This juvenile male Rufous arrived a couple of days ago on his way south when the temp was 110! He has taken over ALL the feeders which worries me because he is constantly dashing between them and hardly ever stops to eat! This picture apparently shows him "panting". According to the internet, "just like dogs, wild birds will open their bills and pant to help dissipate heat on a hot day". He sat on the feeder for about two minutes alternating between feeding and panting.
