Aerial acrobatics in full swing around my 5 feeders. RT hummingbirds are emptying 16 oz or more a day. Still have adult males although only 2 are regularly guarding feeders now so I suspect my local adult males are moving on...since a few days ago I had 5 adult males guarding (trying anyway) all 5 feeders. I added 2 new feeders but just had more males coming to defend each new feeder. Females and immatures are more abundant now.

I have made arrangements to have feeders filled while I am gone helping family. I hate to leave this time of year but it cannot be helped. I have had to resort to purchased clear nectar for refills while I am gone. (Red food coloring is NOT good for hummers and isn't needed anyway for attraction.) I am hanging larger feeders in 3 spots for this time period with instructions to empty and rinse before refilling every 3 days. Last year I had RT hummers into early Oct....hoping for good migration viewing this year.
