Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 08/20/2015

Number: 14

I've been keeping roughly 6-10 hummingbird feeders in my yard in SW Michigan immediately adjacent to Lake Michigan for more than twenty years. I believe this is a well known stop for Ruby-throats as there is always nectar available without fail. Traffic gets very heavy on about August 15 and remains heavy until about Sept. 1 at which point it gradually trickles off. I always see a few straggling hummers in early to mid-October. Today at any given time I could see between 12-16 hummers swarming the feeders, with three to four using the feeder consecutively.
